About Me
Tom Cunningham is 36 and first came to Braintree when he was two days old. He really loves his home town! Having been brought up on Queenborough Lane, Tom’s parents run a local contracting business and Tom’s earliest working experiences were in that business.
Tom has a Business Management Degree and a post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management. Tom’s working experiences include: time spent in business, political campaign management and supporting the work of a local MP.
Tom was first elected to Braintree District Council in 2011 and became a Parish Councillor in 2015. He joined the BDC Cabinet in 2014 and became Deputy Leader of the Council in 2019. Tom has been responsible for Economic Development since 2015, with responsibility for Town Centres and promoting prosperity. Tom is passionate about revitalising our town to meet the challenges of the future and was instrumental in getting Braintree District Council to commit to the exciting Victoria Square Development, the popular Street Markets and pedestrianising the High Street. Tom has also been working hard on job creation and is pleased that new businesses are being attracted to the area thanks to Conservative investment in new employment land at Great Notley.
Tom is dedicated passionate and determined and would work extremely hard for Braintree Town residents at Essex County Council.
