Roger Hirst - Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex
Roger Hirst was elected as Police and Crime Commissioner in 2016. Shortly after Essex again led the way with Roger also becoming Commisioner for the Fire and Rescue Service in 2017. With a strong record of action, Roger is committed to ensuring Essex remains safe by:
Investing in Essex Police
Funding for 300 officers for Essex thanks to the Conservative government, on top of the 500 already hired.
Bringing Crime Down
Cutting crime through targeting hotspots and offenders. Burglary, anti-social behaviour and theft were all falling even before the Covid-19 crisis struck, and drug-driven violence and domestic abuse will be dealt with next. Rural crime and protecting isolated communities and businesses are a high priority.
Cracking down on violence and drug crime
Under him, Essex Police will protect vulnerable people from gangs while dealing with the hardened criminals who prey on them.
Making our roads safer
More patrols and working with other agencies to educate and protect all road users. The number of people killed and seriously injured on our roads has been reduced.
Supporting Special Constables and volunteers
He has delivered on his promise to recruit Community Specials. With 520 officers, Essex has the second largest and fastest growing Special Constabulary in the country. More to come.
